Two Ways To Work Together
This bespoke 1-on-1 studio session gives you complete flexibility in how we work:
Option A: Skills Development
Focused tuition on specific techniques you want to master. I'll teach you the processes step-by-step so you can continue developing your practice independently.
Option B: Facilitated Production
You have a specific project in mind and want my decades of experience to help execute it. You guide the creative direction while I apply specialist techniques to bring your vision to life in glass. This is ideal for artists, photographers, and designers working toward exhibitions, commissions, or portfolio development.
Most sessions blend both approaches - learning techniques while creating work that matters to you.
Screen Printing Techniques Available
Photo-Based Screen Printing
Transfer high-resolution photographic imagery onto glass using photo-sensitive emulsion with kiln-fired enamels, silver and copper stains, or traditional stained glass paints.
CMYK 4-Layer Multi-Colored Printing
Create full-color photographic images using transparent enamels fired in multiple layers. This technique produces vibrant, permanent color with exceptional detail.
Silver & Copper Stain Printing
Hand-pull silk screen prints using silver and copper stains for richly layered, multi-tonal work. Perfect for creating depth and luminosity in architectural glass.
Fusing & Printing
Combine screen printing with glass fusing, using kiln-fired enamels and powdered frit to create vibrant, textured, gem-like surfaces.
Photoshop Preparation for Glass
Tailored guidance on preparing digital images for screen printing - including layering, collaging, halftone generation, and transparency/opacity management specific to glass processes.
Sandblasting Techniques Available
High-Resolution Photographic Sandblasting
Create permanent photographic images in glass using UV-sensitive emulsion stencils. Capable of extraordinary detail impossible to achieve by hand-cutting.
Traditional Hand-Cut Stencil Sandblasting
Learn precise hand-cutting and application of resist materials for clean, graphic imagery and typographic work.
Screen-Printed Resist Sandblasting
Unique to HALTglass - use screen printing to apply sandblast resists, allowing for complex, repeatable, and highly detailed imagery.
Flashed Glass Specialization
Work with handmade antique flashed glass - sandblast through colored surface layers to reveal contrast and create striking imagery.
Combined Processes
The real power of a 1-on-1 session is combining techniques:
Sandblast and screen print on the same piece
Layer enamels over sandblasted imagery
Fuse multiple printed and sandblasted layers
UV bonding of multiple worked glass layers
We'll design the day around your specific project goals, whether that's mastering one technique in depth or exploring how multiple processes can work together.
