Course Overview
Learn cutting-edge high-resolution sandblasting techniques to create permanent photographic images in glass. This one-day course introduces you to processes rarely taught outside of university settings, using ultraviolet light to create high-detail stencils with precision impossible to achieve by hand. In addition, you'll experience the unique and innovative process of screen-printed blast stencils - a technique developed at HALTglass. Absolute beginners welcome - most people are new to this process.
You'll work with professional sandblasting equipment to etch imagery into glass, exploring sandblasting into both copper-stained and silver-stained glass to create richly tonal, permanent work. Traditional hand-cut and screen-printed stencil techniques are also covered to give you the full range of possibilities.
What You'll Learn
High-resolution image transfer using UV-sensitive stencils
Screen-printed stencil techniques (unique to HALTglass)

Why This Course Stands Out
This isn't your typical sandblasting workshop. While most courses teach basic resist techniques on commercial glass, you'll be working with professional-grade equipment in a purpose-built studio, applying processes developed through decades of specialist practice. The screen-printed stencil approach you'll learn here isn't taught anywhere else publicly in the UK - it's a technique refined through professional fabrication work for galleries and architectural commissions.
Add to this the option to work on handmade antique flashed glass rather than standard float glass, and you're learning at a level typically reserved for university glass programs or high-end fabrication studios. You'll leave with both the knowledge and the confidence to continue developing serious work in this medium.
